Queensland’s Plan for the Primary Prevention of Violence Against Women 2024-28

The Queensland Government has released its multi-year plan for the primary prevention of violence against women. Through focusing on preventing violence before it starts, Queensland’s Plan for the Primary Prevention of Violence Against Women 2024-2028 aims to address and challenge deep-seated beliefs, attitudes and behaviours about gender and violence against women. Over several years the Queensland Government will build on existing prevention efforts to strengthen its approach to the primary prevention of violence against women. We will do this through key new and existing initiatives that focus on:

  • Leadership, community awareness and capability building.
  • Building the primary prevention workforce.
  • Developing new partnerships and expanding into new settings.
  • Engaging men and boys in primary prevention efforts.

To progress the Plan’s initiatives, the government has committed an additional $16 million in funding over the next four years.
