Humanitarian assistance: Hamas-Israel conflict

Since the start of the conflict, as many as one million people have been displaced, access to water are very limited and humanitarian supplies is running out. The Australian Government has advocated for the protection of, and unimpeded access for, humanitarian workers and supplies, to enable the delivery of lifesaving support into the region.

The Australian Government announced an initial $10 million in humanitarian assistance for civilians affected by the conflict in the Occupied Palestinian Territories, with a focus on Gaza. The support will provide essential supplies and support services, including:

  • $3 million to the International Committee of the Red Cross to fund urgent needs like restoring essential services and providing medical support to victims of the conflict; and
  • $7 million through United Nations agencies to deliver critical support including emergency water, nutrition, sanitation, and hygiene services, as well as child protection.

The Australian Government will continue to monitor the developments of Hamas-Israel conflict closely, as the humanitarian situation in Gaza deteriorates, and assess the humanitarian situation and will be ready to provide additional support.
