Do you speak a language other than English? Become an Interpreter today!

Do you speak a language other than English? Would you like to support your community by helping them access government services and supports all while getting paid? Then a career in interpreting might just be for you!

Interpreters are regularly needed to provide in-person, over the phone, and/or video interpreting services across health and legal settings. With Australia’s increasingly diverse and growing migrant communities, interpreters are needed now more than ever to support Australia’s existing and emerging culturally and linguistically diverse groups.

Interpreters need to complete formal training and meet the prerequisite requirements to pass a certification test with National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters Ltd (NAATI).

To be considered for the Translating and Interpreting Service (TIS) National panel of service providers you must:

  • be an Australian citizen, permanent resident or a New Zealand citizen residing in Australia
  • be 18 years of age or older
  • hold the required NAATI credentials in your language

If this sounds like the right path for you, visit NAATI or TIS National to find out more.
