Homelessness Law implements a best-practice, outreach-based, traumainformed service delivery model to resolve legal issues connected to a person’s money, housing, health, and experience of violence.
The service’s latest report details the impact of financial disputes on homelessness, illustrating how resolving issues like payday loans and high-cost car loans prevents financial hardship from escalating into homelessness.
It includes client case studies demonstrating the effectiveness of tailored, trauma-informed legal support in addressing debts, securing refunds, and stabilising housing situations for vulnerable individuals, such as victim-survivors of violence and people with disabilities. The report also highlights collaborative efforts with frontline workers, legislative advocacy, and the role of financial literacy in empowering clients to manage money and prevent future financial issues.
