Webinar: Laws of consent and excuse of mistake of fact

The Queensland Government is proposing new rape and sexual assault laws, and the proposed changes have sparked heated debate from organisations, academics and individuals who work with survivors of rape and sexual assault.

QCOSS in collaboration with Queensland Sexual Assault Network (QSAN) and the Women’s Legal Service (WLS) Queensland presented this session examining the changes on 7 September 2020.

This online forum, now available on-demand, is an opportunity to learn more about these proposed changes. QCOSS CEO Aimee McVeigh facilitated a discussion with WLS lawyer Julie Sarkozi and QSAN sexual assault worker Ella Morter. The laws are discussed and debated from a human rights perspective.
