Survey: Community experiences of the 2022 eastern Australia floods

Were you threatened or affected by flooding in New South Wales or Queensland this year? Share your experience with flooding to improve community safety.

You are invited to contribute to independent research being undertaken by Natural Hazards Research Australia with Macquarie University, the University of Southern Queensland and the Queensland University of Technology.

Every story counts. Your experience can help researchers understand what happened and learn from it to improve community safety and flood preparedness in future. Register your interest here.

Researchers want to hear directly from anyone impacted by flooding. There are two ways to participate – either through an interview with a researcher or by completing an online survey. You can complete the interview, the survey, or both. Interviews will start in August and the survey will be available in September, but registrations are open now.

Interviews will be conducted either via Zoom or on the phone and take between 30-60 minutes. Some interviews may be conducted in person, where possible. You may be asked about your awareness of the floods, actions you may have taken to plan and prepare for them, how you responded to any warnings and how you were affected by the flooding.
