Show what you love most about Queensland with #MaroonIt

Queensland Government media release

Queensland Day is commemorated annually on 6 June, providing an opportunity to celebrate the state’s culture and heritage and what’s great about being a Queenslander. Today, Queensland is commemorating 164 years since separating from New South Wales.

Queenslanders are encouraged to share on social media what they love most about Queensland by using #MaroonIt. Entrants could win vouchers to experience great sporting events, art, music, food, and travel experiences.

Funded through the Queensland Day Sponsorship Program, communities across the state will celebrate by lighting up landmarks maroon and hosting Queensland Day events.

Queensland Day Ambassadors, Ali Brigginshaw, Nick Marshall OAM, Chern’ee Sutton, Astrid Jorgensen, and Alastair MacLeod will also join the celebration this year and share what they love most about the Sunshine State.
