Scholarships: Financial Literacy Education and Diploma of Financial Counselling
The Indigenous Consumer Assistance Network (ICAN) and its social enterprise training organisation, ICAN Learn are offering scholarships for the Skillset in Financial Literacy Education and Diploma of Financial Counselling due to commence in March 2021. A Diploma of Financial Counselling is the required qualification to work as a financial counsellor in Australia.
As a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) specifically focusing on outcomes for the financial counselling and financial capability sectors, ICAN Learn delivers the Skillset in Financial Literacy Education as part of this scholarship, giving graduates work options in financial capability and financial counselling roles following graduation.
The Skillset in financial literacy education is a requirement to work in funded financial capability roles and is delivered in the first week of the course. This is a great opportunity to become involved in the financial counselling and capability sector.
Course 1 is exclusively for Indigenous community, health and other service providers or professionals who want to make a difference in their communities by adding to their skills and gaining a Diploma of Financial Counselling. This course will be delivered online and requires a weekly one-day attendance.
Course 2 is exclusively for people who have a multicultural background, have made Australia their home, have done some work in Australia in community services, health, social work or related fields, and want to learn new skills.
The course develops the student’s understanding about the meaning of money in various cultures, barriers to making money decisions, working with groups to achieve financial literacy education, financial rights, and ways to work with, support and advocate for people in financial difficulty. Students are linked to industry through a workplace learning opportunity in a financial counselling agency with expert mentors.
Expressions of interest are open now, and close before Christmas 2020. Make your mark and develop your skills to assist others in your communities. Email [email protected] to obtain a course brochure with details and information about the next steps to apply.
