Queensland Women’s Strategy 2022-27 released

The Queensland Government has released the new Queensland Women’s Strategy 2022-27.

The strategy is about ensuring the future economic security, safety and health of women and girls across the state. Also important is elevating First Nations women and listening to women from diverse backgrounds. The Office for Women and Violence Prevention wants to draw attention to women’s stories and successes to empower and inspire.

The strategy provides a basis for ensuring the policies and decisions are informed and influenced by women’s voices – both now and in the future.

The primary focus of the Queensland Women’s Strategy 2022-27 is to strengthen women’s economic security. A lack of financial independence amplifies every other barrier to achieving gender equality and the Government is committed to working together to ensure wherever possible that all Queenslanders can thrive from the economic prosperity that comes from increased gender quality.

There are four other priority areas:

  • Women’s safety, access to health and broader well-being
  • Elevating Frist Nations women in decision making
  • Women with diverse background and experiences
  • Supporting and empowering women into leadership roles in every aspect of life.

The strategy is for all Queenslanders – governments, businesses, individuals and communities. Everyone has a part to play in achieving gender equality.
