International Day of People with Disability
Today is International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD) – a United Nations observed day celebrated internationally on 3 December each year. It aims to increase public awareness, understanding and acceptance of people with disability and celebrate their achievements and contributions.
In light of the ongoing pandemic, organisers will be sharing the achievements and contributions of people with disability through online stories and videos, featured across the campaign website and social media.
The theme for 2020 is “Building Back Better: toward a disability-inclusive, accessible and sustainable post COVID-19 World”. The annual theme provides a focus on how society can strive for inclusivity through the removal of physical, technological and attitudinal barriers for people with disability.
Information on how you can get involved in the events, either as an individual or organisation and how to break down barriers for people with disability, both structural and attitudinal, can be found on the event website. Resources are also available here.
