Human Rights Week: Make equality your priority
For the past six years the Queensland Human Rights Commission (QHRC) has run Human Rights Month. Instead, the 2021 event is a long ‘week’ starting tomorrow on Wednesday, 1 December, culminating on International Human Rights Day on 10 December. The theme for this year’s event is ‘Make equality your priority’.
One of the key principles that underpins human rights protections, is the right to equality and non-discrimination. This principle is embedded in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights to Queensland’s Human Rights Act.
Building a stronger, more inclusive, and more cohesive Queensland is only possible when we start with the principle of equality. For everyone to belong, and to know that they belong, we need to actively work to eliminate discrimination, and to promote equality, in every aspect of our lives.
This Human Rights Week, organisers are asking you to make equality your priority. Find out more about the event, access resources, and check out the timeline of events being held during the week at the QHRC website.
