Housing assistance for Queensland veterans

On 2 December 2022, the Queensland Government announced $1.8 million in funding over a three-year period to support veterans experiencing homelessness, or at risk of homelessness.

The Salvation Army will deliver the program, providing support to Queensland veterans and their families to find and keep a home through:

  • one-on-one support throughout the housing application processes, including collating all relevant documentation, providing support during relocation and providing ongoing support
  • practical assistance to help people physically move, set up their new place and link them to local services, close to their new home
  • brokerage to assist people to get ‘back on their feet’ in their new home, support to purchase furniture and whitegoods
  • help to manage outstanding debts
  • information and help to access relevant community services, income support, health care and social support.
