Disaster readiness for the legal assistance sector

Townsville Community Law has been jointly funded under the Commonwealth and State Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements 2018 to deliver a state-wide project called “Disaster Readiness for the Legal Assistance Sector”.

The project aims to build the capacity of Queensland’s legal assistance sector to work within each stage of the disaster life cycle (prevention, preparedness, response and recovery) and thereby improve outcomes for communities affected by disaster.

In this initial phase (July-August 2020), it is developing and circulating a concise desktop review that explores and elaborates the project idea, and begins to describe the proposed outcomes and outputs.

Do you have some input on what role the legal assistance sector can play and how that can compliment existing disaster management processes? Townsville Community Law would like to hear from you – via email, or phone at 07 4721 5511.
