Celebrating Multicultural Queensland funding barrier-breaking projects

Applications are now open for funding under the Celebrating Multicultural Queensland program to deliver projects that will support economic and social participation of Queenslanders from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, and for innovative projects that break down barriers faced by young people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. Projects should aim to build a greater sense of belonging.

Funding is available under two project categories for projects to be delivered from 1 July 2023:

Category 1 – Economic and Social Participation Projects

For innovative projects that create pathways to participation for people from culturally diverse backgrounds in the economic, social and cultural life of Queensland. This includes people who arrived in Australia as migrants or refugees, people seeking asylum, and distinct cultural groups such as Australian South Sea Islanders.

One-off funding of up to $40,000 is available for one-year projects to be delivered in 2023-2024.

Category 2 – Youth and Community Connection Projects

For innovative projects that can assist with breaking down the barriers facing young people from culturally diverse backgrounds that can result in feelings of disengagement or disconnection with the community, and to increase their access to, and inclusion within the community.

Projects receiving funding under this category must ensure young people from culturally diverse backgrounds are leading in identifying the barrier or need to be addressed, and are engaged in the planning, design, implementation and evaluation of the project.

One-off funding of between $5,000 to $120,000 is available. Project implementation timeframe can be up to two years. Projects are to be delivered between 1 July 2023 and 30 June 2025.
