ACOSS policy webinar: The Uluru Statement from the Heart
At the 2017 National Constitutional Convention, the Uluru Statement from the Heart was created with three key steps to achieve structural reform: Voice, Treaty, and Truth.
The next steps in the campaign are paramount, as is the support from the community sector. With a looming federal election, the Uluru Statement from the Heart campaign is seeking bipartisan support to hold a referendum to establish a constitutionally entrenched Voice to Parliament during the first term of office. The sequencing of Voice, Treaty (Makarrata) and Truth-telling is critical to a new way forward for First Nations Peoples.
Join this webinar hosted by ACOSS to receive detailed briefings on the background and context to the regional dialogues that culminated in the Uluru Convention and formulation of the Uluru Statement from the Heart. The session will also provide an update on where the Uluru Statement from the Heart campaign is now, what’s coming up and things that you can do to actively support the call for constitutional change.
When: Thursday, 9 December from 11:00am to 12:30pm (AEST/Queensland time)
