As a follow-up to the closure of the application round for the Housing Construction Jobs Program, Q Shelter has released a survey aimed at demonstrating to the Queensland Government the collective impact and capacity of the housing and homelessness sector.

The Housing Construction Jobs Program will see the Queensland Government partner with private and community sectors to deliver new social and affordable housing across the state. Q Shelter believes that the housing and homelessness sector should play a central role in delivering this new housing.

The Housing Construction Jobs Program was created to encourage partnerships with the private sector and community housing providers to deliver jobs, drive economic growth at a local level and ensure better community outcomes. It’s an opportunity to leverage investment to deliver more for Queensland. The application round closed 31 July 2017.

Q Shelter now hopes to collate the responses of service providers across Queensland, regardless if they applied for the program or not, to demonstrate the sector’s collective impact and capability to state government and the private sectors that it is ready, willing, and able to deliver this new housing.
