The 2016 Australian of the Year Awards are now open for nomination.

Each year our nation celebrates the achievement and contribution of eminent Australians through the Australian of the Year Awards by profiling leading citizens who are role models for us all. They inspire us through their achievements and challenge us to make our own contribution to creating a better Australia.

Nominations can be made across four categories, with Queensland recipients announced later this year. These recipients will then represent the State at the national awards ceremony to be held on the eve of Australia Day 2016 in Canberra.

Nominations close 1 August 2015.
