Nine organisations have been chosen by the Department of Communities, Child Safety and Disability Services to support Queenslanders to understand the NDIS and make the most of the opportunities the NDIS will bring. They will be delivering workshops across Queensland throughout 2016.

Details of the workshops held by each organisation are below.
Mamre (through Pave the Way) is delivering NDIS Participant Readiness activities for people with disability and their families in the North Coast, North Queensland and Far North Queensland regions.
Mental Illness Fellowship Queensland (MIFQ) and Connections Inc. are delivering mental health specific information to the Queensland community and support individuals living with psychiatric disability, their families and carers to remain informed and empowered in the lead up to the NDIS. MIFQ are delivering a range of activities to support people living in the regions of Brisbane, South West Queensland and South East Queensland through the NDIS MI Way workshops.
Community Resource Unit (CRU) is delivering a range of activities to help people with disability, families and supporters in Brisbane, south west Queensland and central Queensland to prepare for the NDIS.
Costing and pricing skill and knowledge is a key area for providers to improve business practices to be prepared to operate in the NDIS environment. Together with Curtin University NFP Initiative, NDS has developed a practical and integrated Costing and Pricing Learning Program. This one-day seminar is designed to introduce finance and managerial staff within a not-for-profit (NFP) association or company to the basic concepts of finance within the new environment of the NDIS.
The NDIS Get Ready project is aimed at getting people with disability, their parents and carers ready for the NDIS. The YFS Get Ready team are working in Logan, Redlands and the Gold Coast.
Parent to Parent is delivering a series of workshops for older carers (60+ years) and Indigenous carers (45+ years) of people with disability. The workshops are aimed at preparing older carers for the NDIS:
QDN Plan Ahead workshops are being held across Queensland for people with intellectual or learning disabilities. The workshops are fun and interactive.
Connections will deliver information sessions and workshops for people living with psychiatric disability, their families and carers who live in the regions of North Coast, North Queensland, Central Queensland and Far North Queensland.
Deaf Services Queensland’s “You’re in Control” program is providing a number of face-to-face workshops delivered in Auslan across the state that provide community members with an understanding of the NDIS and what it will mean for them.
Aimed at senior management of smaller organisations, the NDIS - Ready, Set, Go workshops utilise NDIS organisational readiness tools created by National Disability Services (NDS) as well as experienced business professionals.
