Homelessness is a problem too complex to be tackled by only the community services sector and government departments. It needs the combined efforts of the private, public and community sectors because a diverse range of people and organisations are better able to address the diverse and complex needs of people experiencing homelessness.
Through fundraising, the resources, time and talent of local communities can be leveraged to achieve real and lasting outcomes for people experiencing homelessness. For this purpose, QCOSS has developed the Homelessness Community Fundraising Toolkit, which can be used by any Queensland organisation or community working to address homelessness.
This toolkit is full of fundraising ideas and resources, information on how to prepare your organisation for fundraising, and how to communicate your message to engage communities. It particularly looks at ways in which small to medium-sized organisations can fundraise on a budget and with minimal human resources.
The Homelessness Community Fundraising Toolkit also covers ways in which organisations can work together to fundraise. The toolkit provides links to many other resources on fundraising that are publicly available. It is adapted from The HCAP Fundraising Toolkit, developed for the Homelessness Community Action Plans (HCAP) regions across Queensland, including Cairns, Mount Isa, Hervey Bay, Moreton Bay, Toowoomba, Ipswich, Brisbane, Logan and the Gold Coast.
The Homelessness Community Fundraising Toolkit is now available now to download.
