The Queensland Government offers a range of concessions and rebates to eligible households in Queensland to assist with energy costs.

Concessions and rebates currently available include:

  • Electricity Rebate
  • Reticulated Natural Gas Rebate
  • Home Energy Emergency Assistance Scheme
  • Electricity Life Support Concession Scheme
  • Medical Cooling and Heating Electricity Concession Scheme

Electricity Rebate

Queensland pensioners, seniors and eligible low-income households can receive a rebate of $330 (GST inclusive) on their electricity bills.

The Queensland Government has recently extended the Electricity Rebate to Commonwealth Health Care Card holders and asylum seekers.

Health Care Card holders and asylum seekers can contact thier electricity retailer to apply for the electricity rebate from 1 April 2017. Once eligibility has been verified by retailers, customers will start seeing the rebate on their next bill (depending on timing of application and billing cycles) with payments back-dated to 1 January 2017 for eligible applicants.
