The Department of Communities, in partnership with Glencore, are calling for applications for the Queensland Indigenous Youth Leadership Program held from 24 June to 30 June 2017 at Parliament House, Brisbane.

If you know an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Queenslander aged 18 to 25 who shows leadership promise, then we encourage them to apply.

Forty participants from around Queensland will be selected to join this program.  The group will debate a Bill as members of the Eric Deeral Indigenous Youth Parliament, meet Members of Parliament and take part in workshops covering a variety of topics.  The participants will also learn from and work with Elders, mentors, representatives from government departments and each other to develop their leadership skills and learn about democratic processes.

Applicants can apply online here or download application form, then scan and email to iylp@communities.qld.gov.au

The Department of Communities, Child Safety and Disability Services – Office for Youth, will work with successful applicants to arrange travel and accommodation. Costs will be covered by the department for meals, accommodation and transport associated with the program.

Applications close 5pm Friday 14 April 2017.
