The 2016-17 Queensland State Budget is a solid budget for vulnerable Queenslanders.  It provides funding for crucial areas such as prevention of domestic and family violence, universal access to kindy, investment in employment in regional Queensland and the provision of a range of social infrastructure across the state.

This budget is however missing an overall strategy of how these individual elements will work together and how the community, or individual communities across Queensland will be engaged in their implementation. The Queensland Council of Social Service (QCOSS) believes the success or failure of these many positive measures will be in how they are coordinated; how the learnings are shared; and how integral the community sector and community is in the co-design and implementation.
