Handbooks

On Tuesday 12 May 2015, Minister for Communities, Women and Youth, Minister for Child Safety, Minister for Multicultural Affairs, the Honourable Shannon Fentiman MP, officially launched National Volunteer Week and Volunteering Queensland's Community Resource Handbooks.

“Research shows that everyone involved benefits from volunteering, organisations, the people volunteers care for and volunteers themselves,” Ms Fentiman said.

“Queensland is a better place thanks to the dedication of more than a million volunteers. These inspiring people come from all walks of life but all share the same passion for helping others."

The ‘Community Resource Handbooks’ consolidate the knowledge gained through Volunteering Queensland's community leadership work with more than 2,000 community groups over the past fifteen years.

Designed to assist community groups to begin, manage and grow, the handbooks cover:

  • starting a community group;
  • running an effective group;
  • working with people;
  • day-to-day operations;
  • creating connections; as well as,
  • resources and links.

With content tailored to help small charitable community groups run primarily by volunteers, with limited resources and time.
