The Family Matters 2017 report examines the over-representation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children in out-of-home care.

The report has been published by the Family Matters campaign, led by SNAICC - National Voice for our Children. 

The report examines progress made towards implementing evidence-informed solutions that aim to eliminate the over-representation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children in out-of-home care.

It highlights:

  • the over-representation of Indigenous children within child protection systems
  • the causes of over-representation in out-of-home care
  • the extend to which governments work in partnership with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities to overcome the causes and consequences of over-representation.
