Queensland Government media release

Minister for Justice Michael Keenan and Queensland Minister for Police, Fire and Emergency Services Mark Ryan has announced additional disaster assistance for small businesses and non-profit organisations affected by severe weather and flooding from Tropical Cyclone Debbie.

Minister Keenan said the assistance is being provided through the jointly-funded Commonwealth-State Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements (NDRRA).

“Today’s additional assistance will extend recovery grants of up to $25,000 for affected small businesses and non-profit organisations in the local government areas of Mackay, Isaac, Rockhampton and Logan,” Mr Keenan said.

Minister Ryan said these grants are designed to help ensure affected small businesses and non-profit organisations can recover as quickly as possible.

“The grants can be used for such things as undertaking clean-up operations, repairing damage to premises, and replacing stock,” Mr Ryan said.

Today’s announcement demonstrates the ongoing commitment of the Australian and Queensland governments to support disaster affected communities.
