Mental disorders are a leading cause of disability in the population. They comprise conditions such as dementia, depression, substance use and anxiety disorders. In 2007 they were the largest cause of disability burden in Queensland, causing 24.3% of the total disability burden. Mental and behavioural conditions continue to be more common amongst women than men.
