Queensland’s non-profit mental health community sector meets the needs of people with mental illness or psychiatric disability, including consumer groups, family and carer groups and non-government community-based service providers across Queensland. The peak body for mental health in Queensland is the Queensland Alliance for Mental Health (QAMH).
The QAMH is a non-government organisation (NGO), which supports over 240 community organisations working in mental health in Queensland. The QAMH advocates for community services that promote mental health and well being. Its goals are social inclusion and community well-being; a mental health system focused on people's recovery in their own homes and communities; and easy access to information and strategies that promote mental health.
The Queensland Alliance is one of the eight state and territory peak community mental health organisations, established to provide leadership and direction promoting the benefits of community mental health and recovery services across Australia.
